Ariana Grande showed up at the Golden Globes looking incredible in a black Vivienne Westwood gown (in her Goth Glinda era, etc), and nope: her boyfriend Ethan Slater wasn't in attendance! However, she did bring a date: longtime friend Doug Middlebrook, who was spotted with Ari in several pictures.
So why wasn't Ethan Slater Ari's plus one? Unclear, but there's no drama. A source tells the Daily Mail that they're "In a solid place now. They're like an old married couple at home. They'd rather hang out together and do simple things like play board games or binge watch shows rather than go out to fancy places."
They add that "Ethan knew the Ariana and Cynthia thing was all about marketing the movie. Ariana needed to be front and center with Cynthia. The two of them were everywhere and Ethan was nowhere to be seen. Although he's in the movie, he's not a selling tool like Ariana and Cynthia. He's a pro and understands the business. That's why he was OK with it."
In other words, no drama to be found!
