- Kendall Jenner has kept her romantic relationships out of the spotlight for most of her career.
- For nearly a decade, fans speculated that she may be a closeted lesbian due to her close bond with friends like Cara Delevingne and Hailey Bieber.
- Kendall has since broken her silence surrounding her sexuality and addressed the long-standing rumors.
As one of the highest-paid supermodels in the world (and a reality TV personality of nearly 20 years), Kendall Jenner’s love life has been a topic of conversation for most of her career.
For the first time, she opened up about her sexuality—and longtime rumors that she’s a closeted lesbian—during an appearance on Owen Thiele’s In Your Dreams podcast.
“There’s the whole side of the internet that thinks I’m a lesbian,” Kendall, who has been romantically linked to Bad Bunny and Harry Styles, told Owen Thiele during the January 9 episode of the pod.
“You want to know what really bothers me? How mean people are about it,” she continued. “It’s not with, like, a welcoming arm of like, ‘Hey, if you were, yes, come join.’ It’s not kind. It’s very mean. It’s very like, ‘What the fuck are you doing?’”
While Kenny clarified she wasn’t queer, she reassured fans that she would’ve come out by now if she were. “I understand that coming out is not an easy thing for anybody, if not most people,” the 818 Tequila founder explained.
“I think at this point in my life, I’d be out if I was,” she continued. “I’m not saying it’s an easy thing. I’m just saying that knowing me and knowing how I would want to live my life, I would be. I’d have no problem being that.”
She also addressed the bizarre allegation that her mom and manager, Kris Jenner, forced her to stay in the closet because it would be “bad for business.”
“I think that there’s this whole narrative that I”m hiding this thing ... I’ve seen really fucked up things that are like, ‘It’s bad for business,’ and I’m like, ‘What? How?’ I don’t understand it,” Kendall added.
“All’s to say, as of today, I am not,” she confirmed. “I don’t think I will be, but I’m not closing doors to experiences in life.”
The rumor dates back to at least 2014, when fans speculated that Kendall’s close bond with fellow supermodel, Cara Delevingne (who identifies as queer and genderfluid), was more than friendship.
While CaKe were simply friends, Kendall has also remained incredibly private about her romantic relationships over the years, telling Vogue Australia in 2019, “For me, a lot of things are very special and very sacred, like my friends and relationships. I personally think that bringing things into the public makes everything so much messier.”
There ya have it!
