Yes, it’s 2026, and yes, Jacob Elordi is still sitting comfortably on his throne as the Internet’s boyfriend. The actor can now add award winner to his already stacked resumé, thanks to his role in Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of Frankenstein.
Jacob took home the award for Best Supporting Actor at the Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday, January 4, where he was nominated against fellow Internet boyfriend Paul Mescal, Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn, Adam Sandler, and Stellan Skarsgård. After he hugged his co-star, Mia Goth, and other key players from the film, Jacob accepted his award on stage with a quick speech, which he revealed he had made up on the spot.
“Bloody hell,” he said, adding, “Yeah, okay, I really didn’t plan for it.”
He then thanked Frankenstein’s production designer Tamara Deverell, costume designer Kate Hawley, and prosthetics makeup effects department head Mike Hill, for their work on the film and for bringing the Gothic horror to life.
“You guys are geniuses. I couldn’t walk around like this in front of a green screen. You guys made that world. So thank you,” he said before he showed gratitude to Guillermo for giving him the opportunity.
He gushed, “I love you. We all love you. You made my dreams when I was 11. I’m so happy to be here,” later adding, “and thank you, Mom and Dad. Cheers.”
This marks the Euphoria star’s first-ever major acting award, which came as a shock as he stood center stage. Here’s to hoping he sweeps even more this season!
