- Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie made a surprise appearance on the annual royal Christmas walk.
- Every year, the royals walk to church and interact with crowds.
- Beatrice and Eugenie showed up to the event and had support from an "airbag royal" according to body language experts.
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie somewhat unexpectedly showed up for the royal family's annual Christmas day walk to church (despite speculation they'd be avoiding the event), and body language experts have entered the chat.
Specialist Judi James tells The Sun that the royals put on "a masterclass in body language statement-making" on their walk, "from the new structure to the new mood it spoke of resilience, continuity, strength and celebration."
She added that King Charles' brother Prince Edward was strategically placed with Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie as a buffer, or "royal airbag."
"Their uncle Edward is the impeccable 'air-bag' royal who, usually with Sophie, is put into place to help out and provide support and some grins and chats during tricky royal moments," Judi explained. "Here he’d left his wife and children’s line-up behind to walk up and alongside Eugenie in a show of strength to signal the family’s solid support and provide a virtual ’embrace’ for Andrew’s younger daughter."
That said, the vibe was also slightly performative. As Judi put it, "The wide smiles looked deliberately performed in a gesture of resilience and possibly stoicism. But the warmth and the protection from the Firm as a whole looked like a very emphatic message to Andrew’s daughters here."
