Despite 2025’s fleet of celeb breakups, a cute new couple did emerge from the ashes. Tate McRae seems to have moved on from her ex, The Kid LAROI, and is newly dating an NHL player named Jack Hughes—yes, the very Jack Hughes who scored the gold-winning goal at the 2026 Olympics and lost his two front teeth in the process.
Anyway, if all of this is brand new information to you, don't sweat it: Tate and Jack have only been an item for a minute. But here's everything we know, in timeline format, for pop cultural research purposes!
November 2025
Tate is spotted on a what definitely looks like a cozy date with Jack at Anton's in NYC, and DeuxMoi gets some exclusive pics.
A source says "the entire restaurant was staring" at the pair, and that Jack "seemed nervous, like was looking around a lot when they first sat down."
December 2025
Exactly a month after their first sighting, Tate is seen watching Jack at the New Jersey Devils hockey game.
Oh, and Jack's brother likes this post of Tate, fueling even more speculation that they're an item:
And the day after that, Tate and Jack are spotted walking around NYC together.
January 2026
The maybe-couple is seen once again, this time celebrating Jack's teammate's birthday in Hoboken.
February 2026
Aaaaand they're (reportedly) official. A source confirms to Deuxmoi that Jack and Tate are “officially dating,” so...must be true!
March 2026
A source from Us Weekly enters the convo, claiming that “Tate and Jack are dating” and that “they started casually seeing each other late last year, so it’s still new, but they are exclusively seeing each other.”
Per the insider: The two first connected after Jack “initially messaged her on IG and started a conversation,” adding, “She thinks he is a really cool guy and they have been having a lot of fun together. She has been so supportive of his career and has been loving going to the games and cheering him on.”
And what does the future hold for these two? According to the source, “They are making it work during this busy season, but hope to have more time together next month when his season ends. Tate thinks he’s really sweet and it’s going well so far.”
Still no word from Jack or Tate about their relationship (or whether they’ll break up over Jack’s defeat of Canada at the Olympics), but stay tuned, because I’ll be throwing any/all available updates here.
