Prince William and Kate Middleton aren't the only members of the Royal Family with a house move on the horizon... apparently, Prince Andrew has laid out conditions to leave his beloved Royal Lodge home following the fallout from Virginia Giuffre's posthumous memoir, Nobody's Girl.

To recap, the disgraced royal, who was recently forced to hand back his Duke of York title, has been under increasing pressure to move out of his taxpayer-funded home, Royal Lodge. Due to Andrew's watertight lease on the property, the monarchy can't force him to leave, although reports now suggest he is willing to do so if he can move into another royal property, Frogmore Cottage.

“Andy is willing to leave,” a source who spoke to The Sun said of the royal's plans to leave Royal Lodge, which come with “demands.”

“He is realistic and knows the writing is on the wall and that his time at Royal Lodge is up,” the insider continued. “If he must go, then he has asked for Frogmore Cottage.”

With a string of famous former tenants and its own scandal when it comes to taxpayers' cash, this is not the first time Frogmore Cottage has made headlines. Here's everything you need to know about Frogmore Cottage.

Where is Frogmore Cottage?

Frogmore Cottage sits on the grounds of Frogmore House and Gardens, which itself sits on the grounds of Windsor Home Park in Berkshire. Frogmore is about half a mile south of Windsor Castle.

Who else has lived at Frogmore Cottage?

Frogmore was built in the late 1600s, but has only been a Royal Residence since 1792, when Queen Charlotte purchased the lease. Since then, a string of royals have lived in the property, including Queen Victoria's mother as well as King George V and Queen Mary.

More recently, and more famously, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle lived at Frogmore after being gifted the property by Queen Elizabeth II to celebrate their nuptials. Before the pair moved in, Frogmore Cottage underwent a multi-million-pound refurbishment, which was initially taxpayer-funded. However, when Harry and Meghan moved out after just one year, they opted to pay back the renovation costs due to public outcry.

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank also lived at Frogmore Cottage—albeit briefly. They moved in in 2020 and stayed temporarily before relocating to Ivy Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace.

According to reports, Prince Andrew was previously offered the property by King Charles, but turned it down because it was “not grand enough for him.” Per The Telegraph, however, he's seemingly changed his tune, with insiders claiming that Andrew “will leave” Royal Lodge if he can move into Frogmore instead.

Who lives in Frogmore Cottage now?

Currently, there's no permanent resident at Frogmore Cottage, but like Frogmore House, it is owned by the Crown Estate—meaning, it belongs to the Royal Family.

How many bedrooms does Frogmore Cottage have?

Frogmore Cottage previously had 10 bedrooms, but after Prince Harry and Meghan's renovation, it has five (four plus a nursery). The property also features two orangeries, a vegetable garden, and a yoga studio.
