Shaun White and Nina Dobrev have broken up and ended their engagement after five years together—joining a fleet of celebs who have already split this year. The decision was reportedly mutual, and was "made with love and a deep respect for one another." With that in mind, let's take a look back at their pre-split timeline.
End of 2019
Shaun and Nina meet at an event in Florida and just happen to grab a bite to eat. They fall for each other fast, and Shaun ends up telling People, “We were flying all over. She’s an actress so she’s shooting movies, doing press and all these things, and I’m getting ready for competition, doing interviews and appearances.”
March 2020
As the world spirals into a collective pandemic panic, Shaun and Nina are spotted riding bikes in Malibu, as one does. A source jumps into action and tells E! News, “Nina and Shaun have been spending a lot of time together recently. Their relationship doesn’t have an official title right now, but that’s pretty normal for Nina.”
April 2020
Nina washes her groceries with the help of a ~mystery person’s~ hands. Obviously said mystery person is Shaun, based on that tattoo.

Shaun and Nina make their debut at the Top Gun: Maverick premiere, which just so happens to star Nina’s ex Glen Powell. And they look amazing!
Then the couple makes their way to the Cannes Film Festival together and look beyond amaze dressed up in their fancy ’fits. “Cannes you believe it,” the Olympian captions an Instagram pic of the two of them. “At times I Cannes not,” the actor coyly responds.

The pair moves to New York City, with a source revealing that Nina and Shaun are “excited to explore the city together” and “soak up all the alone time they can.”

Later in the month, a source reveals to Us Weekly that 2023 miiight just shape up to be a pretty special year—namely because it’s “the year they take their relationship to the next level.”
“Nina and Shaun have been dating for a few years now, so they’ve definitely discussed making things official. They’ve talked about getting married, having kids, the whole nine yards,” the source adds.
Apparently, the two “are so in love and can’t imagine not spending the rest of their lives together” because “what they have is the real deal.” And while “Nina has no idea what Shaun has planned up his sleeve,” she thinks an engagement *could* be on the horizon pretty soon.

At a Coachella event, Shaun tells People that he feels "no pressure" to propose to Nina anytime soon. "We're just enjoying our time together right now," he explains to the outlet. "But I told her, I was like, 'Look, after the Olympics, I finally got my freedom to do whatever. And let's just have fun and be together and support each other.' "
