A Hiddleswift mention in 2025 feels fake, but we’re here to report that it really just happened. Tom Hiddleston came to a full stop when his ex, Taylor Swift, was mentioned during a live interview with the UK’s Heart radio on Thursday, August 21.
The actor was sat with his The Life of Chuck co-star, Karen Gillan, when he told host Devin Griffin how he spends a lot of his free time scrolling through articles about sports.
“I find myself on the sports highlights,” Tom said. “It’s football or if there’s been a tennis championship I’ve missed. There’s all these sports journalists who write really beautifully about sport, and I love reading what they’ve written.”
At this point, Devin interjected and unexpectedly brought up Taylor’s internet habits, which she discussed with her current boyfriend, Travis Kelce, on his New Heights podcast on August 13.
“We did just find out—Taylor Swift, big fan of a sourdough recipe blog,” the host said, before adding, “Very, very specific, but I see how you could get into that.”
The random mention of his ex prompted Tom to freeze up before Karen took the lead with a response, saying, “That feels like an Easter egg for something. I think it might be something to do with the Super Bowl.”
In case you somehow forgot: Tom and Taylor were romantically linked for a brief period in 2016, when they crossed paths and danced together at the Met Gala. According to Us Weekly, the Grammy winner is the one who ended things after their three-month relationship.
“She was the one to put the brakes on the relationship,” a source close to the couple told the outlet at the time.
The insider added that Tom was “embarrassed that the relationship fizzled out.”
They continued, “Tom wanted the relationship to be more public than she was comfortable with. Taylor knew the backlash that comes with public displays of affection but Tom didn’t listen to her concerns when she brought them up.”
When she released her sixth album, Reputation, the year after their split, she seemingly referenced the Loki star’s customized “I ❤️ T.S.” shirt in her music video for “Look What You Made Me Do.”
Interactions between the pair have been minimal since their split nearly 10 years ago, so we kind of don’t blame Tom for his reaction.
