Have you heard the news? There's a new nepobaby in town. Mia Threapleton, daughter of Kate Winslet and star of the new Wes Anderson film The Phoenician Scheme, embraced her status as a famous offspring at the film's Cannes Film Festival premiere this week. Mia seemingly paid homage to her famous mom on the red carpet, wearing a dress that echoed Kate Winslet's 1998 Oscar gown.

Mia, 24, walked the red carpet at Cannes in a strapless, deep green, Oscar de la Renta gown adorned with a voluminous skirt (with train—that's two strikes against the new Cannes dress code) and a metallic flower appliqué. And while she never directly stated that her dress was a nod to her mom's Oscar gown, many fans were quick to notice the similarities between Mia's dress and Kate's gown.

Kate wore a similar gown to the 1998 Oscars, when she was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her work in Titanic. Kate's dress was more of a slinky silhouette, with long bell sleeves and a formfitting skirt, but the color of the two dresses are eerily similar, and both feature gold, leafy accents. Coincidence? Maybe! But a sweet one nonetheless.

Kate has always been supportive of Mia's acting career. When she told her mother she wanted to be an actress, she was thrilled. “She said, ‘Amazing, okay, I'm so excited for you,’ and I won't ever forget what she said next,’” Mia recounted in an interview with Vanity Fair. “She said, ‘It's really Hard work, darling. It's really hard work—but that's why I love it.’”

Kate also embraced Mia's decision to try to break into the industry on her own, signing up for casting websites and attending open auditions. “She was incredibly supportive of my desire to want to do this on my own because that's how she did it. She did it on her own,” Mia added.

Mia has already gotten rave reviews for her performance in The Phoenician Scheme, so it's highly likely we might be seeing her on the Oscars red carpet next year. And I can't wait to see what look of her mother's she reinterprets next.
