Warning, major spoilers ahead...
Sinners is continuing to be a box office smash—enticing viewers across the world to cinemas, just as much as Sammie's voice in the film entices the town's vampires to the juke joint he's performing at. IYKYK.
The film was written and directed by Ryan Coogler, best known for the Black Panther and Creed film series, and stars Michael B. Jordan as the Smoke-Stack twins. Elsewhere in the cast, Miles Canton makes his movie debut and is joined on screen by Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku and Delroy Lindo to name a few. The film's crew is equally as epic, with the likes of Oscar-winning production designer Hannah Beachler bringing the set to life.
And it's thanks to Hannah that the movie features a tribute to Black Panther legend Chadwick Boseman, who passed away in 2020 after a private four-year battle with colon cancer. He was just 43 at the time of his death.
Taking to X to share a sketch of the film's set design, Hannah revealed that the beams in Sammie's father's church are a nod to the Black Panther star. "The crossed beams above are for Chadwick, making the Wakanda Forever gesture," she wrote on the social platform.
Another fan pointed out that the many crosses in the scene could be a reference to one of Chadwick's most iconic fashion looks. "I also see the connection to his Met Gala look in 2018," they wrote. To that, Hannah responded with a string of heart emojis, perhaps confirming the fan's theory.
So, did you catch these Chadwick tributes when you watched the movie?
