Fresh off her NCAA championship win roughly just two weeks ago, Paige Bueckers was flying high going into the 2025 WNBA draft. Before the UConn guard was selected as the No. 1 draft pick to the Dallas Wings, she showed up to the Orange Carpet in a custom shimmery black pantsuit by Coach complete with Coach's viral jumbo coin purse clutch. The look is so good, you have to see it for yourself:
Speaking to The New York Times before draft day, Paige's stylist Brittany Hampton teased the vibe Paige was going for, saying, “Her draft day is her opulence moment.” She added that it was going to be “power dressing” with “liquid rhinestone cascades,” “embellishments,” and “bold elegance.”
Paige added extra sparkle and edge to her look with Kay Jewelers, wearing a handful of black diamond rings, necklaces, and bracelets from the brand's Ink and Ice collection.
The look is a fun switch up from Paige's all-white Louis Vuitton suit look from last year, which was more clean and classic than bold and shiny, and that's by design. In her NYT interview, Paige said she gravitates towards fashion that is versatile and non-conformist. “It gets people thinking, like, ‘What is this girl doing?’” she said. “And that's what fashion is all about.”
Paige also doesn't want her style to be easily defined or categorized, citing previous WNBA players Sue Bird, Kahleah Copper, and Natasha Cloud as inspiration. “They're all people who have their own sense of fashion, and they're not conformed to anything that society things they should be,” she explained.
“I want to be here, be there, be everywhere,” she continued. “Masculine, feminine, crop tops, baggy clothes. I don't want to put myself in a box.”
The next few years are shaping up to be huge for Paige. Before the WNBA draft, Paige signed a three-year deal with Unrivaled League. And, according to The NY Post, her first year salary of that contract will pay more than her four-year WNBA contract. Talk about making the most of your moment!
