Kelly Clarkson's contract is reportedly set to expire next year, which means The Kelly Clarkson Show could be wrapping up. And apparently Kelly is eager to move on from the show—news that comes several weeks after her unexplained absence for a "personal matter."
According to a source who spoke to Page Six, Kelly wants to spend more time with her kids. As they put it, “Kelly’s number one priority is her children, and they always will be. The show is grueling. It’s a whole lot of work, and I hear that Kelly would like to spend more time down South.”
The Kelly Clarkson Show reportedly averages 1.2 million viewers per day and is a major success for NBC, despite being expensive to produce / not turning a "huge profit." Per another insider, “It’s a tough job and profit margins are low."
Meanwhile, there are rumors that Kelly could join Jenna Bush Hager on the Today show, though another source says that does “not make any sense” since "if she wants to spend more time with her kids, she certainly wouldn’t get that, and she’s never even guest co-hosted."
Innnteresting. Anyway, circling back to Kelly's recent absence from her show, sources told TMZ that she was “dealing with a personal matter that does not directly involve her,” and was "completely fine."
In other words, it doesn't seem like it had anything to do with her alleged desire to leave!
