There’s no denying that Gabbriette Bechtel is at the forefront of the current fashion and pop culture landscape. If you’re here, you probably think she looks a little familiar, or you’re becoming obsessed with her in real-time thanks to her breakout role in I Know What You Did Last Summer. On top of being an all-around it girl and singlehandedly reviving the ’90s goth aesthetic, Gabbriette is engaged to The 1975 frontman Matty Healy and goes waaay back with Charli XCX. Here’s everything you need to know about Gabbriette—ya know, because your group chat needs at least one expert.

She’s a model and dancer

Gabbriette was born and raised in Orange County, California, and according to a May 2023 interview with Vogue, she had dreams of becoming a professional ballerina. “I was convinced I was going to be a professional ballerina, and I still am,” she told the outlet.

She shared that MTV cast her to dance in a Blood Orange music video, but that she was eventually cut from the project. After that, she started working as a model and was eventually signed with IMG. Since then, she’s modeled for brands like Savage X Fenty, Heaven by Marc Jacobs, Betsey Johnson, Diesel, Dolce and Gabbana, and Miaou. She’s also attended fashion weeks in New York, Paris, and Milan, where she sat in the front row for brands like Jacquemus, Willy Chavarria, and Prada.

She’s dipped her toes into acting, too

Is there anything Gabbriette can’t do? In March 2025, she made her silver screen debut in Idiotka. Most recently, she starred in this year’s reboot of the 1997 slasher flick, I Know What You Did Last Summer, alongside Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, and Sarah Pidgeon.

Her friendship with Charli XCX goes way back

Aside from being engaged to The 1975 members Matty Healy and George Daniel, Gabbriette and Charli have been connected since 2016 when she was cast in Charli’s music video for “After the Afterparty.” Fast-forward to 2025, and Gabbriette is now one of Charli’s muses in her “360” music video, along with Julia Fox, Emma Chamberlain, Rachel Sennott, and Chloë Sevigny, to name a few.

Charli also shouted Gabbriette out in her “360” lyrics, writing:

I went my own way and I made it / I’m your favorite reference, baby / Call me Gabbriette, you’re so inspired

Not to mention, Charli tapped Gabbriette to be the lead singer of her punk band, Nasty Cherry, in 2019, which leads us to...

Gabbriette was in a band and had her own Netflix reality show

That’s right. In ye olden days of 2019, Charli founded a punk band called Nasty Cherry and hand-picked Gabbriette as its front woman. Their rise to fame was documented in a Netflix reality series, I’m With the Band: Nasty Cherry. According to Gabbriette, they disbanded amid the COVID pandemic in 2021.

“We couldn’t do anything together, we couldn’t tour our second EP, and we weren’t able to make music together because we were all in different places in the world. So we just decided that it wasn’t going to work out anymore,” she told HighSnobiety in 2023. “I miss it all the time. It ended too abruptly.”

Her cooking videos have popped off online

On top of modeling, dancing, and being a musician, Gabbriette also loves to cook and often showcases her culinary talents on TikTok and Instagram. Her blackout cake recipe gained so much attention that she collaborated with the L.A.-based Vegan burger joint Monty’s to create a milkshake version to raise money for the L.A. Animal Rescue.

In conversation with Vogue, Gabbriette revealed that she is working on a cookbook and hopes to open a café in the future. “Not many people know this, but I’m really into interior design. So I’d love to open a space so people can have the full experience,” she dished.

She’s been dating Matty Healy since 2023...

In September 2023, Gabbriette and Matty were photographed getting cozy in NYC’s SoHo and Washington Square Park. Soon after, they were spotted everywhere from New York Fashion Week events to The 1975’s shows. As for the criticism she and Matty have faced for their romance, Gabbriette told HighSnobiety, “I don’t give a shit. I think it’s hilarious. Go for it. Have fun. People have a lot to say. You don’t know me at all.”

In February 2024, the Daily Mail reported that Matty introduced Gabbriette to his parents during a family night out to see his mom Denise Welch’s play, The Gap. Oh, and Denise seems to love Gabbriette as she’s constantly commenting on her Instagram pics. She left heart emojis under sweet photo booth snaps of Matty and Gabbriette and even commented a cheeky joke under a pic of Gabbriette in a leather thong, writing, “That’s exactly how I hope to look in mine when it arrives!!”

...And they're engaged!

Yep, in June 2024, Gabbriette legit had the internet spiraling after posting a snap of her left hand with a huge 💍 on it while at a Charli XCX show alongside the caption, “MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT” in reference to Chari's latest album, BRAT. And, yes, before you ask, Matty did, in fact, repost it on his own Instagram Story.
